A patch, generally speaking, is a way to update an existing piece of software on your computer to a new release. However, with SmartVersion, patches are a lot more flexible and powerful:
SmartVersion patches are not limited to software programs, but can patch any file on your computer - be it a document, spreadsheet, presentation, or indeed, an executable program.
SmartVersion patches are not limited to updating a pre-determined version of your files to a single newer version. You may store any number of versions inside SmartVersion patches and therefore gain flexibility in choosing exactly which version to upgrade to. These kinds of patches are called Multi-Version patches.
SmartVersion patches may or may not contain starting file(s) inside them. This way you can optimize the size of your patches while also retaining flexibility in your deployment options. Patches which do not contain an initial version inside them are called Minimal patches.
